Asbestos Still Not Being Detected in Homes, Offices, Shops and Workshops.
Many residential and commercial properties built before 1995 still have asbestos containing materials within them.
Homeowners and occupiers of commercial premises employing contractors to undertake work for them may be exposing themselves and the contractors to asbestos fibres being released as a result of removal, drilling or breaking apart of materials which contain asbestos
Asbestos exposure continues to be the cause of around 3000 deaths in the UK each year. The effects of exposure may however not be noticable for up to 30 years and death rates are likely to increase unless there is greater public awareness
